Whether you're a fan of the Royal Family or not; the fact that April 27 is a day, offers many opportunities. You're probably to busy in the afternoon to make your hangover somewhat manageable and the beers flowing again lavish on any party. But King's is also ideal to rumble on, stroll through the city or even finally take time to see a good movie or series.

To stay in good atmosphere, we made a selection of all the wonderful things you can see on royalty. Think dramatic costumes, intrepid fighting spirit but more a story about the human side of the royal family. Because they are ultimately only human.

1. The Crown

The Crown follow the 25-year-old Queen Elizabeth II, who must take the heavy task to lead the British Empire. This season is the first of six in which the queen is followed throughout her life. The story begins in 1947. The first ten episodes can be seen on Netflix and each lasting one hour. The series achieves a 8.8 on IMDB so that bodes well.

 

2. Kingdom of Heaven

This dark blockbuster about a turbulent period in history is baptized to become the film crusades. And although there are a lot of questions as to the historical accuracy of the story, we still feast on the combination of love, power and survival.

The movie is about the young blacksmith Balian (Orlando Bloom) who lives a secluded life with his wife and child after the death in a tricked French village. One day he is visited by knight Godfrey of Ibelin (Liam Neeson). He tells him that his natural father and asks him to the Promised Land. Balian makes a choice that not only changed his life.

 

3. The Other Boleyn Girl

The sisters Anne and Mary Boleyn compete in this sultry drama at the heart of the licentious King Henry VIII and the tensions run high. Leading roles are played by Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson and Eric Bana. Director Justin Chadwick parade based on the novel by Philippa Gregory. The film can be seen on Netflix.

 

4. Marie Antoinette

Marie Antoinette is a biographical historical film from 2006, written by Sofia Coppola. The story with Kirsten Dunst in the title role is based on the biography of "Marie Antoinette" by Antonia Fraser about Marie Antoinette of Austria. Apart from the engaging storyline - the 19-year-old Marie Antoinette Queen of Fance - is blown feast in terms of costumes and wigs. The movie was awarded a deserved Academy Award for best costumes . 

 

5. The Queen

The role of Queen Elizabeth II has been performed several times but never icy and realistic as in The Queen in 2006. We meet the Queen in the aftermath of Princess Diana's death. Facts and fiction blend together in this film about the longest serving monarch in the world.

 

6. Elizabeth

An Oscar-winning story about power and the price that the young Queen Elizabeth I will have to pay in the form of her happiness. Magnificently portrayed by Cate Blanchett, which won a Golden Globe for best actress (and a lot of other awards and nominations) for this blockbuster.

 

7. Elizabeth: The Golden Age

This film from 2007 is the sequel to Elizabeth in 1998. With an equally grandiose Cate Blanchett who is now an adult. She has to endure several crises during her reign.

 

7. The King's Speech

8. And Kongelig Affäre

A Danish king drama with a superb cast that should not be missing in this list. The film is about a young queen (Alicia Vikander) who marries a deranged king but secretly in love with her doctor (Mads Mikkelsen). A romantic drama about unleashing a revolution that changed the country forever.

 

9. Mrs Brown

A fine film of 1997 Queen Victoria of England, who suffers from depression after the death of her husband. She retreats to the displeasure of the people. Her servant, Brown, who adores her, makes for bowling in her life. The intimate relationship creates a shameful situation and leads to something even most resembles a royal disaster.

 

10. Diana

Okay, we admit: we love the British monarchy. But with so much excitement and intrigue, there is also a lot to draw from as a filmmaker. Take for Diana.

The film is about the last two years of the life of Princess Diana and the secret love affair she had with heart surgeon Dr. Hasnat Khan to the tragic car accident in which she died with Dodi Al-Fayed in Paris. The film in advance as a gruesome end but is nonetheless a fantastic story about love.

 

11. Cleopatra

You ask yourself at this point be wondering: where are the films about the Dutch royal family? Well, then here. At least as great and can be recognized (and a good utilization of an otherwise drizzling Koningsdag)

A four-part Dutch television in 2012 on the life of Beatrix der Nederlanden. The series provides a credible glimpse into the life of our former queen.

 

15. Prince Bernard Schavuit of Orange

Drama series about more than just the turbulent life of a prince consort. Within the royal family, there is really no contradiction make more figure to figure, Prince Bernhard. Bernhard tells the story of his life.
